Brooklyn Nets center Brook Lopez underwent successful surgery this morning, January 4, 2014, to repair the fractured fifth metatarsal of his right foot, Nets' General Manager Billy King announced.

The procedure was performed by Dr. James Nunley, Duke University Medical Center's Department Chair of Orthopaedic Surgery, Nets' foot and ankle specialist Dr. Martin O'Malley and team medical director Dr. Riley Williams III. In addition to the fracture repair, a second procedure, a first metatarsal osteotomy, was performed to unload and protect the injured area.

"With this procedure, we both fixed the broken bone (fifth metatarsal) in Brook's right foot and repositioned another bone, so that the sole of his foot will bear weight more evenly than before," said Dr. Williams. "The repositioning portion of the surgery lessens the stress on the fractured bone, and decreases the likelihood of re-injury in the future."

Lopez, who was injured during the December 20th game at Philadelphia, is out for the remainder of the season, but is expected to make a full recovery and will be back on the court for offseason workouts.

At the time of his injury, Lopez was averaging a team-high 20.7 points along with 6.0 rebounds and 1.76 blocks through 17 games played this season.

Following an MRI on Monday, January 6, 2014, Brooklyn Nets guard Deron Williams was diagnosed with a sprained left ankle.

Williams was treated with a cortisone shot in the ankle joint, as well as given platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injections into the lateral ligaments of the ankle.

In addition, Williams received a PRP injection into his right ankle and a cortisone injection into his right ankle joint to relieve inflammation.

Williams, who will miss Wednesday's game versus Golden State, is currently in a walking boot and will be re-evaluated at the end of the week.

Will Kevin Durant find peace if he leaves the Golden State Warriors?

In some corners, Kevin Durant is becoming a laughing stock, and others are just downright concerned about the NBA star.

Durant is the second best player in the league and he doesn’t seem to be comfortable in his own skin or with his personal decisions, as in the decision to leave the Oklahoma City Thunder.

The NBA MVP has been caught with fake social media accounts to go after people who may mock him. Or, in the case of Clint Capela, Durant felt a need to go after him using a burner account.  All Capela was doing was expressing confidence that his team, the Houston Rockets, could beat the Golden State Warriors, telling ESPN’s Tim McMahon:

"We're confident because we know if we're doing what we're supposed to do, we're going to beat them.

But today, we were ready. I think that if we're doing what we're supposed to do on defense -- all the switches, the weak side -- and keep playing our offense by keeping that mentality all game long, we have the weapons to beat them.

We are better than them."

Yes, Durant, the nine-time NBA All-Star, felt a need to hide behind a fake account to respond to Capela.

Seriously!?

Even Dirk Nowitzki has expressed concern about Durant's sensitivity.

Kevin Durant, if you're not the put your name to it kind of guy, then let it go. You really don't have to respond, after all, you are the one with the ring.

It looks like the Houston Rockets and Carmelo Anthony are still looking to get hitched once Melo is through the waiver process. Another sign that the marriage may still happen is that reportedly, the Rockets are also looking to sign a defensive player or two before training camp.

However, everyone is not thrilled that Carmelo Anthony, a 10-time NBA All-Star, may sign with the Rockets. Jason Whitlock of Fox Sports thinks the Rockets should steer clear of Melo.

Rashad Jennings Says Odell Beckham Jr. is Capable of Leading Giants

During a conversation on an episode of Fox Sports’ Speak for Yourself, Rashad Jennings, a former running back with the New York Giants said that Giants WR Odell Beckham Jr. could “absolutely” be a leader.

What’s The 411Sports hosts Keisha Wilson and Mike McDonald took up the question and the responses were mixed.

Jared Dudley infers that a team of professionals with the right focus and drive could potentially overcome odds

The Brooklyn Nets acquired Jared Dudley and a 2021 second-round draft pick from the Phoenix Suns for Darrell Arthur on July 20, 2018.

Signed for a veteran’s presence in the locker room and elsewhere, Dudley, wasted no time sounding like an elder statesman when he spoke to the media on Wednesday.

Dudley recounted a story when he first landed in Milwaukee. It was Jason Kidd’s first year as head coach of the Milwaukee Bucks. Kidd walked into the locker room, looked at a room filled with young players and told them, “If you don’t think we’re making the playoffs in this conference, let me know.” The Bucks made it into the NBA playoffs that season, going from a 15-win team to a .500 club.

The Nets won 28 games last season, another 13 games would make them a .500 NBA team. Let’s hope that with the players that Nets GM Sean Marks is assembling, this upcoming season Brooklyn could go beyond just 41 games in the win column.

A reporter’s question causes Tom Brady to walk out of New England Patriots' press conference

New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady has a history of walking out on meetings with the press when questions become uncomfortable.

Back in 2016, weeks before the US presidential election, Brady abruptly ended a press conference when a reporter asked him a question about Donald Trump’s vulgar conversation about women with Billy Bush now known as the infamous Access Hollywood tape.

Shortly after the public became aware of the tape, a reporter at a press conference in Cincinnati asked, “Tom, you have kids of your own. How would you respond if your kids heard Donald Trump's version of locker room talk?”

The Patriots quarterback, who is friends with Donald Trump, responded with, “Thank you, guys. Have a good day.” He smiled and walked off.

On Saturday (July 28, 2018), another uncomfortable question arose at Patriots camp when a reporter’s question suggesting Patriots WR Julian Edelman's suspension may be related to Brady’s health coach Alex Guerrero.

Ben Volin of The Boston Globe asked Brady, “When Julian [Edelman] tested positive, a lot of people connected it to Alex Guerrero. What’s your reaction to that? Do you think it’s fair?”

And, true to form, Brady did it again.

“I have no comments, just ridiculous. I’m out,” Tom Brady said before walking away.

Julian Edelman was suspended for four regular-season games for violating the NFL’s drug policy.

Brady, who is known to eat a mainly plant-based diet prescribed by Guerrero, will turn 41 on Friday and will be entering his 19th season in the NFL.

Bryant doesn’t stop with Jones, calls Dallas Cowboys’ linebacker, Sean Lee, “a snake”

The saga of Dez Bryant continues. Recently, it appeared that Bryant was minding his own business when a tweet from Sirius/XM misquoted Stephen Jones, who has among many titles, the director of player personnel for the Dallas Cowboys. The tweet with the misquote, read: “how Dak Prescott would be better off without Bryant in his ear.”

Now, you know, Dez was not going to let that go, so he posted on Twitter and we’re cleaning up the profanity:

“Here we go with that scapegoat s—.. I charged everything to the game and went the other way.. y’all know what the real problem is .. don’t put it on me with that bulls—.. garbage a– play calling.. Everybody lined up in the same spot for 17 weeks..,”

Sirius/XM later posted the audio from Jones, which stated,

"He's gotta trust the system, which at times last year, there was pressure.. with Dez in his ear and to some degree Jason in his ear. Those great players want the ball"

Bryant went on to call linebacker Sean Lee, a fellow Cowboys teammate who sat across from his locker, a snake.
